I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior at a young child of just 7 years of age. Following high school I attended the St. Paul Bible Institute in St. Paul Minnesota (now Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota). I served in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas from 1961 through 1963. Following my discharge from the armed forces I attended and graduated from Brown Institute of Broadcasting (now Brown College) in Minneapolis.
My first job in Broadcasting came in 1964 where I was as an announcer at KFNW, the Northwestern College Radio station in Fargo, North Dakota. I served the Lord there as Announcer, Program Director and finally Station Manager until 1980 when I transferred down to the Northwestern College Radio Network Headquarters in Roseville, Minnesota as Assistant Director of Broadcasting.
In 1985 I became the National Director for Public Relations for the Christine Wyrtzen Ministry. Then in January of 1986 I accepted the position of Director of Broadcasting (later Vice President for Broadcasting) for Family Life Radio in Tucson, Arizona. I served in that capacity until July 1st of 1999 when I resigned that position to assume the position of FLR Network Satellite Director. I finally “officially” retired in March of 2004. However, I have continued to produce and host the CALL TO WORSHIP radio ministry since that time.
My total desire since the day I accepted the Lord in 1945 has been to serve the Lord in any and every way He would direct me. As with most Christians I have been through valleys and heights in my walk with the Lord. I have experienced His blessings and His discipline but through in all, I have tried to grow in the Lord. Over the years as I have grown in my walk with the Lord my “Life Verse” has changed. Currently it is found in the book of the Psalms, Chapter 104, verse 33: “I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live”. - Dave Kersey
